podcast due 2/28

For my 2 podcasts I am still in the process of deciding what i would like to do.

I think F
or my video Podcast I think i would like to talk about deaf people functioning regular society. As an example of this I would like to show clips of Marlee Matlin. She is a deaf actress, has won an Oscar and made an appearance on the T.V. show "Dancings With the Stars",
here is a small clip of Marlee form Dancing with the Stars.
But i would like to show a very short clip of a hearing couple dancing and then show Marlee dancing and ask if my audience if they thought one of the couples was deaf.

For my first podcast that is just my voice I would like to talk
I think i either want to talking about personal stories more or expand on a topic that doesn't fit in my web text. One of those topics could be: mainstreaming a deaf child into a hearing school or putting a child into a deaf school against their wishes.
But
In discussion with Shakira, i decided i would love to talk about devices that allow the deaf to hear, such as a hearing aid or the cochlear. I would probably want to focus on the cochlear. Which is a device named after the cochlea.

A cochlear is a device that actually gets implanted into someones head, and it allows the user to have a chance at hearing. Not all operations resault in successful hearing.

What is something you still don't understand as my reader, maybe a podcast could clear up any confusion about?

Peer Review by Shakira

My Peer Review was done By Shakira

* Post- peer review post: Describe your revision strategy after reading your partner's peer review. How did the feedback of your instructor and peer help you to revise your text? (5 pts)

Shakira's SUggestions:
4. Having fully examined the complete text, what questions do you have about the topic or the project?
One question I have is what
exactly is the deaf culture? I know that it is a culture that deaf people have that is different for those that heat but what does that mean. How do they drive, are their personal relationships the same, how do they view the hearing world?

3. What else do you need to know to fully understand its main point?
It would help me better understand the main point by providing more information on the subtopics such as the causes of deafness and how they survive.

Identify places where the ideas did not flow smoothly from one to another. The text would flow better if the subtopic What does deaf mean were first and then flowed into the causes of deafness. Also, an introduction to the topic would ease the reader into the topic more smoothly.

7. What do you find particularly effective about the writing style of this particular MM
Webtext?
What I like about this style is that is very personal. You get the feeling that you’re reading
a article or text for someone how has some personal experience on the topic and not from someone who is just writing about a topic.
the subtitles should be uniform in their size.
3. What did you enjoy most about your colleague’s project?
I enjoyed some of the experiences of deaf people that he shared. It made the text more personal.

4. Choose the one change you think is most important for your colleague to improve his/her project.
Develop idea better. The information is there but needs to be expressed in a way that the reader can come away from reading the text feeling like they know something about the topic.

WHat I'm going to do about this

In response to Shakira's suggestions, I want to develop exactly what the deaf culture is. I will do this by providing very clear definitions, and by providing more information from the books i am reading about the Deaf Culture.

I will expand more on the subtitles
  • "CAuses of Deafness" and
  • "How do they survive"
I liked the personal style that i had going on, but i believe Jela encouraged me to shy away from this writing style. So I will have to "depersonalize" the article.
Shakira mentioned that she liked the personal stories and accounts that i listed, so i will try to gather more of those.
I need to develop my idea better

May i have my Audiances attention

Week 4 (2/2)
Who do i want to reach?:
Those who do not know about the deaf culture are the ones that i want o reach with my article. Also those that have some knowlage of the deaf culture i want to increase their nowlage and understanding.

• How many people will make up my audience?
It could be large, depending on how many people read my webzine. But in refrance to my topic, i would say that it will probaly be a larg number of people that do not know about the deaf culture.
• How well does my audience understand English?
They should all understand english very well.
• How much does my audience know about the topic?
Probably close to nothing.
• What is my audience’s reason for reading my work?
to gain more understanding about the deaf culture
• What are my audience’s expectations about my written work?

To be informed about a culture that not much is known about.
• What is my audience’s attitude toward me and my work?

Accepting i would hope. Willing to give me their ears for a little and impart some knowlage to them
• What do I want my audience to do after reading my work?

I would hope my audiance would either be more contious of the deaf culture and or be willing to help the deaf culture out aand be curtious to the culture and treat them with respect.

After you have addressed the audience questions, consider your purpose:

What is your purpose?
to inform. recearching and reading and gathering lots of informatoin, and consolidating it all into an easy reader friendly version, filled with visual aids, so i can keep my audiances attention

Now, consider your tone, style, and voice:
Think about the needs of your audience. To what tone, style, and voice will your audience best respond?

i think and energetic tone with a voice that is informative and taken seriously. Because i will be presenting a lot of facts to my audiance and i need to keep it lively. i also want to have some personal stories that will appeal to my readers emotion and have a longer impact on them than just facts, facts, facts.
