1.) Deaf Culture
2.) Coffee
3.) Smoking
-What is it about these topics you find interesting?
1.) Deaf Culture- There is a lot to the Deaf Culture. They have many accommodations like the TTY or TDD. Then sign language itself if very interesting.
2.) Coffee: I want to know everything about coffee.What is the difference between a dark roast and a light roast. How do they decaffeinate beans?
3.) Smoking why people smoke, how many people smoke. What are the side effects.
-What is your connection to these topics?
1.) Deaf Culture: I am taking American Sign Language for my foreign language at Purdue.
2.) Coffee: i work at a coffee shop
3.) Smoking: i have no connection to smoking, but i am curious about it.
* subject area that I am interested in researching this semester. (everything I know about this subject and three questions that pinpoint what I don't. Highlight the keywords in those questions to use as search terms.)
Deaf Culture:
-Q 1: Does a Deaf person has as good of a chance as being successful as a heading person?Are there equal rights for Deaf people? are all places accommodating for them?
-Q2: Do they like to be called Deaf?
* Read/take notes/summarize and respond to one of the readings assigned by your instructor.

ReplyDeleteI find that your topics are incredibly interesting. For one, I didn't know you worked in a coffee shop! Which one? What would you write about if you were talking about coffee? (Chai tea is my favorite subject in school LOL) The deaf community is extremely interesting, and I'm wondering what aspects you would consider. Are you hoping to look at lifestyle, available aids, etc?
You have suggested some very interesting topics. I didn't know that deaf people had a culture. But I guess it makes since that they wouldbecause they have to handle things differently than an average person would. That would probably shed light on what their experience is like.
ReplyDeleteIm feeling less compelled to write about smoking. I feel its a topic covered very often.But smoking i feel is very over done. But i love the Deaf culture. im wondering if i should add something im really interested in.
ReplyDeletei was looking at magazines i read which are things like "details" and "GQ" and there are a lot of articles on fashion. But im not sure how lagit an article on fashion would. be because fashion is very subjective.
Coffee or the Deaf Culture seem promising.
